First day. New role.

Tonight, I say goodbye to the FUNemployed lifestyle I have enjoyed in the past month. I’m also putting on hold my wonderful relationship with books, movies and TV series. With Pottermore, brewing potions all day. With Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr, checking out what my friends have been up to, hitting the F5 button every now and then. I say goodbye to sleeping as late as 4AM and waking up as late as 2PM.

Tomorrow, I’ll welcome a new beginning. A new lifestyle. Another step up a notch in the corporate ladder. I will start working as a Media Relations Associate. First day. New role. Wonderful opportunity.

Right now, I feel like I am a 16-year-old, about to enter college for the first time. I remember that feeling of wanting to sleep early so you’d have all the energy and the freshness you need for your first day at school, but you just couldn’t because you’re so excited, anxious, and curious. You lay in your bed, most probably rolling. Rolling to your left, then to your right, until you get up, then go back to your bed again to roll some more. Then, scenarios of what you want to happen on your first day come flashing in your mind. Then, you roll some more. Excited, yes.

But I forgot how we should be on our first day in a new environment. Should we be silent observers first, and think how we could possibly fit in? Or should we be extra friendly, jollier, and tell more jokes to break the ice? But one thing is certain: we should be ourselves.

Yes, I will be myself.
